How to get to Naples Cathedral from the Binario Centrale Guest House

On foot

With a pleasant 10–15-minute stroll along Corso Umberto I and a turn onto Via Duomo, you’ll find yourself immediately immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the historic centre.

By public transport

From the nearby underground station (Line 1 or Line 2) or via the many buses that pass near the station, you’ll reach your destination in just a few minutes.

Naples Cathedral and its millennia-old wonders

Naples Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Mary of the Assumption, was founded during the Angevin period at the end of the 13th century and consecrated in 1314.

General opening hours: The church is usually open from Monday to Sunday (approximate opening hours: 08:30 – 19:30). Free discovery tours: Every day from 09:30 to 17:00 (with tours departing every half hour), you can take part in free guided tours (organised by the Fondazione Napoli C’entro) focusing on the oldest parts of the site, such as the Basilica of Santa Restituta and the Baptistery.

The Chapel of the New Treasury and the Museum of the Treasury of San Gennaro

Adjacent to the Cathedral lies one of the most dazzling and devoutly revered places in the world: the Cappella del Tesoro Nuovo di San Gennaro and its adjoining museum. Built to fulfil a vow made by the city in 1527 to be spared from the plague, the chapel is a masterpiece of Neapolitan Baroque, adorned with fine marble, wrought-iron grilles and paintings by masters of the calibre of Domenichino, Jusepe de Ribera and Giovanni Lanfranco.
