Music at the Maschio Angioino 2026: Suzanne Vega and 14 Free Concerts
Dal 16 al 25 luglio 2026 il Maschio Angioino di Napoli ospita Musica al Castello: 14 concerti gratuiti con Suzanne Vega, Casino Royale, Anastasio e molti altri. Ingresso libero alle 21.
There’s a place in Naples where, from July 16 to 25, 2026, you can see a legendary American singer-songwriter, a jazz collective paying tribute to Miles Davis, veterans of Italian rock, and the Neapolitan rap scene perform live—all for free, in one of Europe’s most evocative medieval courtyards. It’s called Musica al Castello, the musical heart of Estate a Napoli 2026, and it takes place in the monumental courtyard of the Maschio Angioino (Castel Nuovo), just a stone’s throw from the waterfront.
What Is “Music at the Castle”?
The “Napoli Città della Musica” project returns following its success in 2025 with fourteen concerts in the monumental courtyard of Castel Nuovo: shows begin at 9:00 p.m., gates open at 8:00 p.m., and admission is free while seats last.
The formula is simple and successful: nationally and internationally renowned artists performing in one of Italy’s most beautiful castles, for free, in the evening, with the Neapolitan summer serving as the backdrop.

Headliner: Suzanne Vega on July 21
Suzanne Vega needs no introduction: she is the author of songs that have become part of the history of global pop music, with a career spanning four decades of refined songwriting. Hearing her perform live in the courtyard of a medieval castle, gazing at the stars above Naples, is an experience that goes beyond a mere concert.
The full program: 14 evenings with something for everyone
The lineup for Musica al Castello 2026 spans genres and generations, bringing together different worlds of music every evening: Taking the stage will be, among others, Casino Royale to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their album *Sempre più vicini*; Roberto Gatto with Pietro Tonolo in a tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane; Quintorigo with John De Leo and Motta showcasing rock singer-songwriting; Anastasio; Speaker Cenzou representing the Neapolitan rap scene; and the Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra bringing the magic of world music.
Every evening offers a different experience: one night you might immerse yourself in artful jazz, while the next you could discover the rhythms of the Balkans or one of the most original voices in Italian hip-hop. All this in a venue that’s worth a visit in its own right.
The Maschio Angioino: The Location
The Castel Nuovo — Maschio Angioino is one of Naples’ most iconic medieval fortresses. Built in the second half of the 13th century at the behest of Charles of Anjou, it overlooks the harbor and the lower city with its five cylindrical towers. The inner courtyard, where Musica al Castello takes place, is a space with amazing acoustics and a unique atmosphere: ancient stones, evening lights, and the scent of a Neapolitan summer.
The venue is located at Piazza Municipio, just a short walk from the Caracciolo waterfront and the Stazione Marittima. It is easily accessible from the historic center on foot or by public transportation.
