Every summer, Naples hosts an event that uniquely combines the sea, culture and great cinema: Arena, the free open-air film festival that transforms the city’s beaches into atmospheric open-air cinemas under the stars.
The third edition is taking place from 5 to 28 June 2026 and offers ten evenings of arthouse cinema at two seaside venues, completely free of charge and open to everyone.
What is Arena: the cinema you’ll find by the sea
Arena is much more than just a film screening. Each evening is designed as a complete cultural experience: the films are followed by meetings with directors, actors and figures from the world of cinema, creating a direct dialogue between the audience and those who actually make films.
These are two of the most beautiful locations along the Neapolitan seafront:
- Lido Mappatella — Rotonda Diaz, Lungomare Caracciolo (Chiaia area)
- Vico I Marina — San Giovanni a Teduccio, overlooking the Gulf
Bringing the big screen right onto the sand, with the sound of the waves in the background, is something that makes every screening a memory that’s hard to forget.

How to get to these locations from Binario Centrale Guest House
For Lido Mappatella (Rotonda Diaz):
- Metro Line 2: from Napoli Centrale to Mergellina, then a short walk along the seafront;
- Or take Line 1 to Toledo and then a bus or taxi to the Caracciolo seafront;
For Vico I Marina (San Giovanni a Teduccio):
By bus or the Circumvesuviana, or by taxi (about 15–20 minutes).
Tip: combining a night at the cinema with a stroll along the Lungomare Caracciolo at sunset is one of the most wonderful experiences Naples has to offer.
